At Tushinde, our Foster Care Programme is a cornerstone of our mission to protect vulnerable children and provide them with safe, loving, and supportive environments. We work closely with government agencies to ensure that our foster care services align with national child protection policies and procedures, contributing to the broader goal of care reforms in Kenya.
In November, we proudly participated in Foster Care Week in Murang’a, joining stakeholders, caregivers, and policymakers to advocate for the importance of family-based care. This aligns with Kenya's Care Reforms, which prioritise family and kinship care over institutionalisation, ensuring every child grows in a nurturing and stable environment.
Through partnerships with the government and local communities, Tushinde supports foster families with:
Training to build their capacity to care for vulnerable children.
Monitoring and evaluation to ensure children's welfare and development.
Resources and counseling to empower families and provide the best care.
